ADUKG donates 25 boxes of clothes to Emirates Red Crescent projects as part of WeCare CSR campaign

Abu Dhabi University Knowledge Group (ADUKG) has, on Monday 1 August, donated 25 boxes of clothes to Emirates Red Crescent as part of its WeCare Corporate Social Responsibility campaign. Working in close partnership with Abu Dhabi University, donations of clothes and shoes that were no longer needed were collected from faculty, staff and students, and have been donated to distribute to Emirates Red Crescent projects in the UAE and internationally.

As part of the same campaign, cash donations have also been collected to purchase Qurans for mosques in the region. The drive to raise funds drew a very impressive response, with donations collected at locations around ADUKG’s office and ADU’s campus.

Representatives from Emirates Red Crescent, alongside executives and staff from ADUKG and ADU attended a short ceremony to receive the donations.

“On behalf of everyone at ADUKG and ADU, I am very proud to present these donations to Emirates Red Crescent and hope that they can make a real difference to the people and projects they work with. As an organisation, ADUKG believes in the great value of giving back to the community we operate within, and this is shown again in the inspiring reaction to our WeCare CSR activities,” said Dr. Ahmad Badr, CEO of ADUKG.

The donations were collected as part of ADUKG’s WeCare summer campaign. Started in the Holy Month of Ramadan, and continuing throughout the summer months, the range of recent activities has included organising a highly-successful Ramadan iftar for local orphans, as well as making a donation of 5,000 educational books– initiatives that were also run in partnership with Emirates Red Crescent.

Emirates Red Crescent is a volunteer humanitarian organisation that supports official authorities in times of peace and war. It started on the 31st of January 1983 and was internationally attested as a member in the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in 1986.

ADUKG’s WeCare initiative undertakes a range of projects and schemes specifically aimed at making a positive social and economic impact, using our particular knowledge and resources to help address specific regional issues. The initiative’s current areas of focus are Education, Society, Health, and the Environment.
