Work Skills/Employability

The Work Skills and Employability programs develop the knowledge, understanding and skills learners need to enter employment. They also provide opportunities for learners to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in working life.

Human Resources Management

Human Resource Management (HRM) is the organizational function that deals with issues related to people such as compensation, hiring, performance management, organizational development, safety, wellness, benefits, employee motivation, communication, administration, and training.

Finance and Accounting

Finance deals with matters related to money and the markets. In a company, it is the management of the organization’s money, banking, investments, and credit.

The Financial Department of an organization is essential to its functioning and success. If the Finance Department is not doing its job well, then none of the other parts of the organization will have the resources necessary to function properly.

Business and Management

The meaning of business, in the broadest sense, is the commercial activities that need to be carried out to provide goods and services to consumers. A business organization needs to be successful in many key areas and resources are needed to carry out its business and provide goods and services for sale.

An important key area required by all companies is management. Any organization, big or small, needs proper management to make its business a success. A business enterprise will fail if its people do not have the ability to use their resources properly. Such resources can only be put to proper use by an effective manager. Management becomes increasingly important as the organization grows in size and becomes more complex.

Retail Services

Retail encompasses a broad range of activities and topics, including human resources, finance, law, sales, marketing and administration. Specialist study can include: merchandising and display; food and fashion retailing; and transportation, distribution and storage for retail – depending upon local needs and requirements in the sector.

Customer Service

Customer Service is the service provided to a customer before, during and after a purchase. It is a series of activities designed to enhance customer satisfaction. The level of customer service provided is integral to the company’s success.

Excellent customer service is the ability to constantly and consistently exceed the customer's expectations. If you are going to consistently exceed customers' expectations, you have to recognize that every aspect of business has an impact on customer service, not just those aspects of business that involve face-to-face customer contact.

Hospitality, Travel and Tourism

Hospitality and tourism are among the world’s growth industries, with an increasing number of jobs on offer. These industries cover a wide range of occupations which offer interesting and diverse career choices. There are also many opportunities for career progression.

Health and Social Care

Health and social care is broad in scope – it is about understanding people, communicating with people and keeping them safe, and coping with emergency situations. Everything in life is either directly or indirectly related to health and social care.

Health and Safety

IVD’s Health and Safety courses are designed to support employees in ensuring the health and safety of themselves and others, by raising their awareness and understanding of good health and safety practice.

Each course is contextualised for specific occupational areas, so that improved health and safety practice, knowledge and understanding is directly relevant to daily work.

The courses are a blend of teaching, discussion, analysis and planning for future actions. The work experience of employees is used to help contextualise the course content and participants are actively involved in understanding their own health and safety issues. There is an immediate relevance to participant’s working conditions, making the learning more likely to be absorbed and used.

Although the topic titles are generic, each part of the course is made relevant to specific activities and workplaces. For example, the ‘Containment of Substances Harmful to Health’ is covered in Developing Health & Safety Awareness and Health & Safety for Plant Manual Workers. This is due to the wide range of harmful substances requiring different measures to be applied depending on the type of substance, access authority, severity of the consequences or exposure and locality of containment facilities.

Transport and Logistics

Logistics is the management of the flow of goods, information and other resources. It involves the integration of information, transportation, inventory, warehousing, material-handling, and packaging, and occasionally, security. Logistics is a channel of the supply chain which adds the value of time and place utility.

Quality

When it comes to developing products and services, quality assurance is any systematic process of checking to make sure if a product or service being developed is meeting specified standards or requirements.

All business organizations have some type of Quality Assurance systems. It is one of the key administration support functions and an essential part of any organization or company.

It ensures all employees and managers are following the correct standards and ‘best practice’ procedures and processes to ensure the company is profitable.

Banking, Islamic Banking and Financial Services

Financial services refer to services provided by the finance industry. The finance industry encompasses a broad range of organizations that deal with the management of money. Among these organizations are banks, credit card companies, insurance companies, consumer finance companies, stock brokerages, investment funds and some government sponsored enterprises

At its broadest, Islamic finance covers all financial activity that enables Muslims to invest in conformity with Islamic law, or Shariah. In practice, Islamic finance involves using traditional investment techniques and structures that comply with Shariah to create arrangements that work in ways that are analogous to modern conventional finance.

IVD offers a range of Banking, Islamic Banking & Financial Services programs and courses, including a number of Awareness and Skills Enhancement Programs.

Sales and Marketing

Sales people are the key staff in any organization. It is they that produce revenue, increase profits and grow business. Nothing happens until something is sold.

Event Management

IVD offers learners the opportunity to acquire professional vocational training from experts in the field of Event Management. From conferences and meetings to large-scale festivals, IVD’s approach to delivering Event Management training is practical and innovative.

Project Management

Project management is no longer just for construction engineers and military logistics experts. Today, in addition to the regular duties of your job, you are often expected to take on extra assignments and to get that additional job done well, done under budget, and done on time.
