THE INSTITUTE FOR VOCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PREPARES FOR INCREASED DEMAND FOR COURSES

The Institute for Vocational Development (IVD) – a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi University Knowledge Group (ADUKG) dedicated to providing a range of internationally accredited vocational training programmes – is anticipating a surge in demand for its 2009/2010 courses as more employers seek specialist skills and expertise.

In the short period since inception, IVD has delivered proven professional skills to over 7,000 people and offers the most extensive range of vocational programmes in the region. In contrast to many vocational courses which focus heavily on theoretical training, IVD equips participants with practical ‘real world’ skills that can be directly applied in the workplace.

Speaking of the programmes on offer, Richard Firth Director of IVD said: “Demand for vocational education is increasing rapidly within the UAE’s business sector as more companies struggle to find skilled employees. In a bid to bridge this growing skill deficit, we have partnered with internationally reputed academic institutions to develop specialized programmes in a variety of disciplines that not only meet the needs of the UAE and GCC regions but which adhere to global best practise quality and assessment standards.

“We offer a variety of delivery methods to meet all our clients’ needs including a public schedule of programmes that are ideal for anyone looking to invest in their own learning or development or an organisation with a small number of staff requiring training. Alternatively, we can tailor in-company courses around an organisations requirements and objectives which can be particularly effective if a large proportion of employees need vocational education,” added Firth.

Programmes are currently available at a range of levels, from first time job entry level skills, through to higher level management or technical skills suitable for individuals looking to advance their career or develop deeper specialisation.

All courses can be accredited against international qualification standards offering advancement and progression to Degree Programmes.
